Alexa and Evohome

Alexa is all paired up and working correctly; I know you can use it to do basic commands.

Is there anyway to get Alexa to boost a zone for a period of time, say Bathroom to 25oc for X amount of minutes?

Or can you do something through IFTTT?

Want to set up a routine ideally so Alexa will do so many things at once.

49 and wrong temperature units on Control4 Comfort screens

1) In our Control4 our apps, the Comfort 'tile' for each room consistently displays "49" rather than a realistic temperature (49F = 9C).

2) When we tap on it, the set point temperature sometimes seems to get confused between an (exaggerated) Fahrenheit[?] and Celsius readings. It'll sometimes show a high set point initially. Then if you switch to anther app and come back again it'll change the display to a more sensible reading.

The Android phone is set to Celsius, and I'm told so is Control4

It's been suggested that that the 49 issue is to do with poor communications between Control4 and Evohome. But issuing commands and seeing he effects from one to the other works fine.

Any ideas please?

Web API Client not sending requests

Hi All,

I'm trying to setup a simple Web API request to ping a URL on certain conditions ... I've set this up in Cortex: it's the simplest of GET requests to a URL with no auth or params, however when I hit "Test Send", the "Raw response" pane shows "Sent Http:// .... etc" however nothing happens and I can see there's definitely no call being made to this URL in my network traffic.

The communications log shows;

11:26:55 IOHandler value is not valid
11:26:55 APIClientThread closed
11:26:56 < 9109100898041101000262

What does this mean and how do I resolve this?

Cheers

Hi
I have an 8 Rad system....7 with Evohome HR92’s on and one rad in bathroom acting as a heat sink ( lock shield valves ) all working fine.....not sure i should have said that :) anyway I understand need for heat sink rad on system that just has thermostatic valves in case all close and boiler is still running but on evohome if all HR92’s are shut then boiler shouldn’t run so could I add HR92 to the bathroom rad which is acting as the heat sink rad

Hot water is heated from a separate instant water heater.

Many thanks in advance

Mick

Will there Ever be HOMEKIT support on Evohome!!!

I have been using Evohome since 2017 and have been very happy with the system bar a few hiccups. But we are a home full of iOS users. Why in the world would Honeywell not support Evohome. Is there any sort of limitation in the hardware? I am very aware of the home-brew hacks but I am looking for native support for HomeKit. Can any of the forum members shed some light on this or should I be looking at an alternative system that supports HomeKit?

Keeping the Zone Valve BDR91 open longer for UFH

I have my UFH configured as a Zone Valve and I use a BDR91 as my actuator. The BDR91 opens a motorised zone valve, which in turn starts the UFH pump.
I don't have a Boiler Relay because I use OpenTherm. I still have no idea if the System Parameters will affect my BDR91 Zone Valve or that is only meant for the Boiler Relay.
It would have been better if I could switch off the TPI for this BDR91, but I can't.
Hence I would like to keep that BDR91 switched ON for as long as possible each time it is switched on by TPI. The reason being, my UFH pump is an adaptive pump and ramps up slowly on power on. So each time the TPI cycle kicks in, it goes through its start up routine.
Cycle Rate is 3 per hour with a Min On Time of 1 min. What do I set this to, to keep the BDR91 ON for longer?

evohome Radiator HR92 Valve Broken

Hi

One of my Radiator Valves HR92 developed a high pitch squeak and on examining it, I noticed that the digital display all of the icons were being displayed at the same time. So, on first thought I thought this might be low batteries, and I replaced them for new ones, but the problem persists. Lucky enough I have a spare valve, and I did a swap.

However, my question is really to ask whether this valve could be fixed, and if so, what are the steps I need to perform to fix it?

Has anyone been in this position and know what to do?

Thanks

Re link Google home with evohome?

I once had evohome set up nicely with Google home on my android phone, went through setting up all my rooms and assigning each TRV to the correct room.

At some point the connection has lost, every thermostat shows as disconnected and I can't use it. I keep putting off fixing it as IFTTT works well but the licensing is changing and anyway it niggles at me it's not working.

Can I simply go somewhere and reauthenticate against my evohome login? Or do I have to start over and set it all up from scratch?

Help with a HR92

Hi, after some help.

One of my HR92s has gone wrong. On the screen it's showing frost and d4.8 and on the main Evo control panel the temp fluctuates from a minus number to 99c! I have tried unbinding it and removing batteries but no luck.

Anything else I can try?

Evohome SmartThings integration

One of the reasons that I first bought Evohome was the promised future integration with SmartThings. This never happened but thankfully someone else developed an unofficial integration using the API. The guy who developed it disappeared shortly afterwards and the SmartThings forums are full of people who’ve tried to use it but couldn’t get it to work. Thankfully it’s continued to work for me as I use it for a significant number of things, but I’m always concerned that it’ll stop working and I’ll have no way of fixing it. Andy or Ally, is there any chance of this happening officially in the future?

Blink cameras... connect to different WiFi hotspots?

I'm interested in the Blink system but my house is quite large and WiFi is somewhat a mess, a few different hotspots/SSID but all on the same router.

Does anyone know if it matters? Or since they're internet connected does it make no difference and they could be in totally different locations and still work?

Thanks

Philips Pronto Remote replacement

As the title says any suggestions for a replacement for a Philips Pronto remote something like the TSU9600 or SBCRU980. I don't want to be able to do it from a phone or tablet. I don't really like the new Harmony range and this also seems to be cloud based, so another no. I don't want to send a command to the cloud to be sent back again to turn my TV and media center on. On the odd day the internet stops you can't turn your TV on.
So any ideas, I know I am not the only one as the prices of old Pronto's on ebay seem to be increasing.

Evotouch + 3 hr92, different temperature

$

Hi guys, hope you are doing well.
I have this one for you, i have in my living room the evotouch set as temperature sensor plus 3 hr92, the zone is set as Single zone, with heating type as radiator valves... The issue i have is that when i set a temperature the 3 hr92 behave differently, basically just one open the valve at 100%, the other just a bit (the bottom of the radiator remains barely warm - not na issue of air, if i manually open the valve it goes fully hot) and the third one remains pretty much off...this is quite an issue since the behaviour doesn't allow me to get to the set temperature...any idea? Is there maybe a software update on the hr92?

Thanks,

Daniele

Low Battery Notification Gremlin

Got a HR92 that's reporting a low battery.

In my annual get ready for Winter jobs, i've swapped out all the batteries in the HR92s for new Lithium AAs. The HR92 in question wasn't reporting a low battery beforehand.

After changing the battery setting to Lithium and swapping the batteries I keep getting a low battery notification, even though the HR92 shows a 3 bars on the battery. Tried tensioning the connectors etc.

Any ideas?

Boiler runs every 5 minutes since installing Evohome kit

Hi everybody and I hope that you are all keeping well in these strange times. I am a new member to the site but you have helped me already in fixing a very troublesome install of a full Evohome kit. Please bear with me as I am working long hours so replies and further information may be slow coming back to you.

My heating system is as follows:-
Boiler - Vaillant EcoTEC Plus 430 (Approx 2yrs old)
S Plan sytem with a Grundfoss Alpha 2L pump. Hot water tank is an 206Ltr horizontal RM Insulated copper cylinder.

My Evohome kit consists of Controller, 2 x BDR91 Wireless Relay Box, one each switching the zone valve on CH and HW. Wireless Cyl Stat CS92. 9 x HR92 Radiator controllers.
I have left the bathroom towel rail without a HR92 for the moment until Ive got the system running satisfactory.

My problem is the the boiler is starting up and running for a few minutes every five minutes. Under normal heating up circumstances like bringing the hot water cyl or radiators up to temperature the boiler runs ok. Once the requested temperature is attained the the boiler shuts down then goes onto this 5 minute (approx)
cycle. Once it gets to 22:30 and all the rooms drop back to a night time temperature, the boiler stops this frequent run cycle. I have tried reading up on other posts but there always seems to be other problems or systems.

Go easy with me as I struggle to grasp some technical terms. Thank you for taking the time toread this post and an even bigger thank you to anyone responding.

In addition, I am throwing in a Home Easy HE304 relay and a 12V 1.25A wallwart PSU which I had been using for the whole system.
There is some yellowing to some of the modules (difficult to see on the photo). The DIN mounted relay units were labelled with a pencil. Despite cleaning, there is still some faint marks visible. On two of the QBIs, some of the buttons were a bit "sticky". Seemed to work and click fine after dismantling and cleaning the microswitches. I seem to have run out of connectors. I seem to have misplaced some of them. If I find them, I shall of course include them.

Happy to accept £1,200 inc delivery to the UK for the above.

I also have an audio video intercom (AUI-001) with an s-video balun as well as a made-up patch cable for £150 inc delivery to the UK.

Happy to combine both for a total of £1,300. Please PM if interested. I can only attach 5 photos in this. Shall see if I can post another message with more photos.

Evohome and electric underfloor

$

Hi all,

So I am about to install evohome upstairs in my home to all radiators. Also on the towel rails in the bathrooms.

I also have electric underfloor in each bathroom and was planning to control that with a bdr91 that supplies power to the existing thermostat. The thermostat remembers its last setting after power is cut, so I can safely set it to a high temperature and leave it there. The bdr91 would turn it on when needed and off when not.

My question was can I use the hr92 on the towel rails in the bathroom as the thermostats that turns on both the towel rail and the bdr91?

Basically if I set the bathroom to 25 degrees I want both the underfloor and towel rail to turn on until it hits that temperature. This is mainly because the towel rails and wholly inadequate to heat up some of these bathrooms on their own!

OR Is there any better way to do this? Any advice appreciated.

Heat demand but low flow temperature

$

Hello. Not sure if other people see the same who use open therm connection. The other day I had two zones that had fallen 2 degrees below the set point, and the other 7 zones were at the correct temperature or near it. Looking at the system summary the two zones for heat demand where calling for 100%. However my flow temp on the boiler was room temperature and the boiler was not firing to increase this. Zones sat like this all afternoon untill others came on line that increased the flow temperature. This scenario usually happens when it's a warmer day than the previous day, the frustration is that it always affects our lounge and that becomes cold.

I'm not sure there is any settings I can adjust for this problem?IMG_20201008_122920.jpgIMG_20201008_130232.jpg
