After quite a "mission" to get a Opentherm boiler fitted (frankly very few heating companies seem to understand what a OT boiler might be, let alone be competent enough to fit one and wire one up correctly!) I also replaced the original house builder's six dodgy BDR91s that were receiving the incoming UFH sensor signals. (You know the score...all lined up right next to each other with the opportunity to mix and match signals any which way).
I would have fitted a HCC80R, but came to understand these are being retired in favour of the new HCC100. So I purchased the new HCC100.
The issues are:
1. The HCC100 loses signal connection with the Evohome controller (MkIII) and the UFH sensor (DTS92E) resulting in zero heating to the UFH zone. This happens roughly weekly, sometimes more than one zone is affected. You do not seem to be able to re-establish the link, rather have to delete the zone from the controller and the HCC100 and start afresh with said zone. Most annoying and time consuming.
2. One must use the new Resideo Pro app, which seems not far from being beta software, to control and set up the HCC100, no choice. The connection with the HCC100 is very fussy bluetooth and prone to dropping out just as you need it to carry out a vital function, like syncing to the controller etc.
3. I have of course tried all sorts of cable arial (it has one) placement options including standing on one leg with my arm outstretched etc.
4. I would also point out, that one will spend considerable amounts of time poking the HCC100 with straightened out paperclips through a small front aperture as it requires several pokes to connect to the app, and then it disconnects, requiring more poking. It must be mounted in a easy to poke location.
Whilst a potentially neat looking solution, it does not seem particularly reliable.
I could not possibly ask any other member of my family to get involved with anything Evohome these days...it seems a whole world of constant tinkering to keep everything connected, programmed, linked, with signal and appropriate timing and thus warm.
Any others with experience of this new device?
Be well, Sean
