Sonoff

I cant seem to find much about Sonoff on here.

I am doing a new build and looking at this system to integrate with Alexa.

The components are cheap ( £12 ish for a light switch, similar to switch a mains supply ) and the app seems to support scenes, times, Alexa integration etc.

The main drawback seems that it needs the internet so should that fail you loose your automation until restored - which does not seem a disaster.

I wondered if anyone had any experience / comments. To me it seems a good way to build a fairly economical system.

I am proposing to automate most lights and a swimming pool pump / heater. I dont wish to turn on and off appliances.

Any guidance / drawbacks appreciated

Evohome with multiple BDR91's and underfloor heating

$

Hi,

I'm new to evohome, and after reading quite a lot on this topic, including this forum, there are a couple of things that i don't fully understand yet, so i'm looking for some advice.

my current setup is:
1 heat pump (on/off), controlled by 1 BDR91 and it's associated DT92E. (let's call it "master" BDR91/DT92E)
The heatpump is connected to underfloorheating with 15 loops.
Out of these 15 loops, 3 also have a BDR91 and associated DT92E (so 3 BDR91 and 3 DT92E additional) and each BRD91 (from these 3) controls an electric valve (on/off) on the underfloor heating loops.
These 3 valves/bdr91's are only there to limit the heat in those 3 rooms (and not the other way around. so the heatpump will only turn on when the "master" DT92E is asking for heat, and not those 3 slave DT92E's)

Since the heatpump need to be able to dissipate the heat when on, it will run water to the 15 loops all the time, except for those 3 rooms (where these valves can be shut off). So the result is that when the heatpump is on, it will run water to at least 12 loops.

Now, enter evohome :-)
I would like to have a similar setup, where
- the "master dt92e" is replaced by the evohome and controls whether the heatpump is on/off
- the 3 BDR91's and associated DT92E's are connected to the evohome (but again, only there to limit the heat, and not to turn on the master BDR91)
- use the 1 spare DT92E as a dumb temperature sensor (that cannot call for the heatpump to start or stop)

Can this be done?

(i know that there exist an HCE80/HCC80R, but i'm not really prepared to remove the existing system)

Thanks in advance!

HR92 compatible traditional valve

Hi,

We've just bought approx 20 cast iron radiators and I need to order some TRV's pretty quickly as the plumbers have now arrived and will want to start getting these ready soon.
My plan was to get the radiators in place with TRV's and then upgrade to Honeywell HR92 TRV's at a later stage.
As our pipe work is going to be copper and exposed and the rads are mainly a bronze colour we wanted to keep the TRV's in keeping with this. I've had a look at the Honeywell range but they don't seem to have anything suitable.

Can anyone recommend a traditional TRV available in a Brass/Antique Brass/Bronze finish that works with the HR92? I tried one in a shop (BiWorld Elegance) but the trv pin only seemed to move a fraction with the HR92, almost as if the pin on the TRV was too long.

Thanks in advance

Gavin

2 Evohomes that can't find any wifi

$

Hello,

So i bought myself the evohome package with 4 controlls for the heating.
In my house i'm able to control the 4 different rooms.
So when I go in to the wifi settings of my Evohome, it keeps on searching for wifi networks & after 3 minutes it shows me a blank result screen.
I thought it was broken because all my other wireless devices are connected to my wifi & I can see my neighbours wifi also. So i sended it back.

After 2 weeks I got a mail that they will renew my Evohome & one day later the post deliverd it.
I'm sure it's new, not only from the package it was in, but also it had a new serial number that you find when taking off the front cover.
So charged it for like 36h & went straight back to the wifi setup again, but I get the same result .... no wifi signals detected.
I changed my router to channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4gh, still can't find a thing.
Then I read on the internet that someone got it to work with a older router, so went searching in my basement & founded a almost 10 years old router with only 2.4gh, configured it with my laptop & again tried all of the wifi channels, but still my Evohome finds nothing.
And after the Evohome searches for wifi, you have the ability to enter your ssid name manualy, but this also doesn't work.
Any suggestions, i really don't know what more I can try!!!

thx & sorry for my english spelling :)
